We've been planning our adventure since 2020 and now it’s starting to feel very real. We have just put our home up for sale. Very exciting but at the same time we love our home, we completely transformed Keepers Cottage from a run down wreck to a beautiful modern cosy home. It will be hard to say goodbye, but as one chapter comes to an end a new chapter begins.

Update 1: Our house has been on the market a short while and we received three offers today, two for the asking price and one quite a bit below. We have accepted the offer with no chain. The family with two young children will love living here and given they are moving out of furnished rental we have offered to leave with them the majority of our furniture as we won’t need it ourselves.

Update 2: the buyers surveyor has now been and given us a clean bill of health, and we're now starting to plan our time to organise ourselves and begin to move our special items (pictures, furniture etc) that we want to re- use in our future new home into storage while we sail for a few years.

Update 3: (July) they’ve pulled out for no good reason just before exchange. They apologised that there was too much development in the area, but comparatively we are better than most areas, and the situation hasn’t changed since they made the offer. Why, why, why wait 11 weeks to dump us jus before the middle of summer which is the worst time to sell a house. Why mess the other buyers around who made an offer.

Update 4: (July) we’re back on the market for two weeks and we have a new offer from a wonderful couple a little younger than us. They are currently in rental in Weybridge and have fallen in love with KC our beautiful home and have organised for a surveyor to come round, the mortgage valuation guy has already been.

Update 5: (August) surveys complete and now we wait for the solicitors to discuss any details and then we should be able to exchange contracts!

Update 6: (October) its such a slow process, but we finally exchanged contracts and have agreed to complete on Monday the 7th November. This works perfectly by avoiding our mortgage early redemption penalty and gives us time to prepare the move, to somewhere, no idea where yet!!
